Last Day at Work!

This is it. The Last Day at Work. Been quite productive too since morning–going island hopping visiting schools and delivering farewell invitations, arranging tomorrow’s trips, finalizing guests list, menu and other Event-Organizer-y stuff. I guess the feeling of sadness about me leaving is inevitable. And I guess it’s not just me. There’s this invisible veil of sadness looming over us here. And I know I’ll miss this place, no matter what. I guess that’s the thing about going home after nearly two years living in this remote island. The base host had become my home, and ‘home’ is no longer where it used to be. I wonder where I will end up next. Hehehe. Anyway, I still have five more days here. And I may as well enjoy it to the last minutes!

  1. Good good, enjoy the final few days you have there :-) I have never been to Indonesia, but I understand that it is a beautiful country :-) Bali has always been high on my list of priorities, of places that I want to visit :-) Hope you had a good time there in South Halmahera. Lucky you! I am still stuck in Chennai, my hometown. I love my city but now I itch for different experiences elsewhere, but things in India for girls are not so easy :-/ Also the job situation right now doesn’t help any Must be the worst time to graduate I think! :-) Best wishes to you :-)

  2. Hi Mac Girl ;) this has been the best six months of my life. It is an eye-opening, soul-cleansing and professionally challenging opportunity to work here. When I left Jakarta nearly two years ago, I remember thinking, how fucked up life was. But working, interacting with the people and simply submerging my life with the nature around here–where cinema, bookstores and other luxuries I was used to is simply nonexistent–brought back my faith in humanity, if only for now. The world is still a fucked up place, but go out of your comfort zone, and hopefully you’ll also find out that there’s still scraps of hope for all of us :)
